Safety
Safety is what we sell.
Everything else — routes, technology, scheduling — is downstream of getting students to and from school without incident. Here's how we approach it.
Drivers and monitors
- Every driver holds a valid New York State 19-A certification — the state's standard specifically for school bus drivers. That includes a defensive-driving course, an annual physical, an annual road-skills evaluation, and a clean record on the NYS school bus driver registry.
- Drivers are screened through the NYS DMV, the federal CDL drug-and-alcohol clearinghouse, and a fingerprint-based background check before they ever drive a child.
- Monitors are trained in student management, evacuation procedures, and special-needs care where applicable.
- Both drivers and monitors complete recurring refresher training throughout the year.
Buses
- Every bus is inspected by the New York State DOT on the state's required schedule. Inspection stickers are current and visible.
- Drivers complete a pre-trip inspection every morning and a post-trip inspection every afternoon — walking the bus, checking lights, brakes, mirrors, exits, and the cabin itself.
- Mechanical issues take buses off the road, not into service. We'd rather run short for a morning than send out a bus that isn't right.
What we monitor
- GPS on every bus, polled continuously. Dispatchers see where every bus is in real time.
- AI-assisted safety cameras on every bus, flagging harsh braking, hard cornering, and distracted-driving events automatically for review. They're a coaching tool first — they make our drivers measurably better over time.
When something goes wrong
If there's an incident, an accident, a near-miss, or a complaint, it's investigated by management the same day. Drivers and monitors who fall short of the standard receive coaching, retraining, or — when warranted — formal discipline. We document everything. Patterns get caught early.
